On September 18, representatives from Pandion Healthcare Advocates, HANYS, and both major health systems in Rochester met with Senator Joe Robach to discuss concerns about nurse staffing ratio legislation. Nurse staffing ratios would take away local control, and impose a rigid, one-size-fits-all mandate on hospitals.
Participants included Amy Nickson (VP, Governmental Affairs, HANYS), Travis Heider (President & CEO, Pandion), Mary Beth Walker (Sr. Asst. to the President: Communications & Government Relations, Pandion), Debbie Stamps (System VP, Quality, Safety & Innovation, Rochester Regional Health), Jennifer Gales (CNO, Unity Hospital), Sheri Faggiano (Associate CNO, Unity Hospital), Amy Happ (AVP, State Relations, UR), Karen Davis (CNE, UR Medicine), and Melissa Derleth (CNO, Highland Hospital).
