1. We’re sending 3 new people to the NYS Assembly: Jamie Romeo (she won an open seat to replace Joe Morelle), Marjorie Byrnes (she defeated Joe Errigo in the primary and the general), and Brian Manktelow (he won an open seat to replace Bob Oaks).
2. We’re sending Joe Morelle to the House of Representatives (he won an open seat to replace Louise Slaughter).
3. Every other incumbent in our delegation won. The Funke-Lunsford and the McMurray-Collins races were close, but both incumbents won.
4. The NYS Senate flipped. Therefore, all of Pandion’s senators will be in the minority (Robach, Funke, Helming, Gallivan, O’Mara, Ranzenhofer, Young)
5. The U.S. House flipped. Therefore, Collins, Reed and Katko will be in the minority, and Morelle will be in the majority.
6. In the Assembly, Harry Bronson, Jamie Romeo, and David Gantt will be in the majority (there was no change in power).
7. Democrats won all statewide races in NY.
8. Staffing ratios were defeated in Massachusetts.
9. We can expect the New York Health Act and the Reproductive Health Act to come up next year.
10. Three deep red states voted to expand Medicaid (Idaho, Nebraska and Utah).
Next year there will be a new dynamic in the state and federal government, and Pandion will be there, strongly advocating on behalf of our 17 hospitals across Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
